Set Your Intentions with the New Moon in Gemini

Change is always in the air isn't it? Even when we can't feel it, we know the air around us is swirling, even as we just breathe in and out, it's spiraling quietly in all directions all the time. Funny how it's only when there's a big shift in the breeze that we can actually feel and sense it's change in direction. Gusts of wind suddenly blowing our hair out of our eyes long enough to breathe, lift our arms and maybe even feel weightless. And just the same, when it's whirling all around us making dust devils in the pollen that gets dirt in our eyes, we feel overwhelmed and curse it for pushing us in too many directions at once.

Gemini is the most adaptable and change oriented sign of the zodiac, making this new moon all about embracing the shifting winds of change instead of fighting against it, being taken along with it or attaching to any one situation, idea or moment. This New Moon is asking us to slow down and observe the changes occurring around us and re-evaluate the things we have grown overly attached to and set ourselves free to think, communicate and interact with the world around us in a new way.

This makes me think of my favorite quotes is by Jim Rohn who said:

"You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the season, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of."

Lord knows there is so much change needed in the world and I know so many of us feel helpless at times, but, when the winds of change hit us where it hurts, or take us to places unfamiliar, remember that you have the power to heal and take action to shift your perspective in a way that gets you back on track to where you need to go. It may not be easy and the waters might be rough but, life is like learning how to sail, all we can do is use the winds of change to push us more and more in the direction we want to go. The hard part is when you get pushed so far off course, it takes a lot of patience to get back to where you were going.

Just remember that time is actually always on your side and even when your sails go limp or the storm comes pouring down on your head, the storm will break and winds will always change again soon. The most important thing is you can't give up and jump ship.

Take advantage of the power you do have over yourself. Maybe we can't fix the big problems of the world with one wish on a shooting star, but ask yourself, how can we shift the way we speak to ourselves and the people around us?

Maybe this might look like making a point to smile at strangers more, or call that friend you haven't gotten back to yet. Maybe it's practicing more compassion and patience with yourself and your children. Maybe it's opening your journal and writing a letter to some version of yourself or a loved one so you can express all the swirling things going through your mind and keeping you up at night.

To me the Gemini new moon is a reminder of humanity's ability to adapt and change and how it's reliant on each and every one of our individual free will to make it happen long term.

I believe we are all apart of a collective journey with the ability to do anything and go anywhere we really desire. The tricky part is it's as if we all have one finger on the wheel of the ship, and sometimes we all get so caught up in the moment we forget that we each get to have a finger on the wheel.

Question is, where do we want to go and how can we make the most of the journey along the way?
