The 2024 Capricorn New Moon conjunct Pluto

The infamous sea goat is ironically an earth sign, ruled by Saturn, the farthest planet from us that we can still see with our naked eye. This planet is associated with many stories and themes around, boundaries, limitations, responsibility and the power of time.

The new moon in Capricorn is showing us this power of aligned mental and emotional intentions set with genuine patience, deep determination and complete commitment. Like a mother accepting pregnancy and the transition to motherhood. Aligning with our power with integrity means to take responsibility for the destruction that comes with creation. We are a physical manifestation of our ancestors' combined willpower and quite literally people have died so we could live.

This moon is a reminder that every blessing comes with a cost and it’s our personal responsibility to pay our dues and respect. We are physically and spiritually connected to one another in a way that demands us to understand our true and perceived limitations are actually in service to each other long term if we allow them to be.

The moon will also be conjunct Pluto today showing up as an intense weight emotionally that may have been building over the past week. These feelings may be so strong they overwhelm you or someone around you. Be mindful of this potent energy and avoid giving into destructive habits or impulses. Can you sit and explore these transformative feelings that need to be released?

Remember that emotions are energy in motion so move your body or express your thoughts and feelings through writing poetry, music or any form of creativity. This is a time where we may be deeply healing our collective mother wound, accepting the love and sacrifice of every mother and mother figure we’ve known.

When we accept the immense weight of our own physical and spiritual power, we may feel ironically powerless under this burden of knowledge. This is a good time to give yourself a moment to connect to an ancestor or older person who has more life experience and can for a moment help bear the weight with you.

Take a moment to sit quietly with yourself and meditate on your long term commitments, even if you think you have none, what are one or two things that are important to you? Your family, your health, your legacy?

How can you take more responsibility for your choices this year and commit to mastering a new skill or challenging your previously held beliefs and limitations?

Enjoy the peace of this season and get nice and quiet so you really listen to the voice within. Once we slow down and look at the mountain ahead of us, and deeply accept and respect the wisdom of the past, we can move on to climb the next mountain.
